It should as long as you maintain full time status which is 12 credit hours, but since summer school is a bit more accelerated than the normal year only take the classes that are needed and if you're going into nursing take your prerequisite classes because you can go straight into your normal classes without having to worry about fulfilling them in the fall. Also consider applying for scholarships to accompany your financial aid right now since this is the time to apply since many have deadlines between May and August and even as late as September.

The answer is possibly. You must be admitted to your program for the summer sessions (if your admissions acceptance says FALL 2007 it means fall, so contact that office to see if you can have the start term changed to summer), and you must have filed the appropriate financial aid applications. Some colleges treat summer as the end of their academic year, mine does, other colleges treat it as the start of the upcoming academic year. It pays to know how your college treats it, too. If it uses summer as part of the upcoming year you need to know if using aid during the summer will leave you without enough aid for the rest of the school year. Ask, the financial aid office will tell you and will also tell you if you need to file both the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 FAFSA for summer and fall.

Keep in mind that for schools that treat summer as the end of the academic year the amount of financial aid available in general may be limited, and some schools do not process loans for summer. Ask. And ask soon, this week, since most colleges are going into their fall and summer registration periods and you may not have a lot of time to put a request for funds in.

If necessary you may find yourself looking at an alternative loan to pay for summer school. Look at those long and hard because their terms are not the same as federally backed loans. Also, ask if the school has a payment plan available for summer, just in case the person who pays for your summer classes has to be you.

It depends on where you go to school whether or not you have to take 12 credit hours in the summer session. Last summer I took 6 credit hours and still recieved Financial aid because at the community college I attend Full time in the summer was only 8 credit hours. Financial aid will NOT cover developmental courses, so make sure if you take a developmental class you take several other courses in the process so your living expenses money will cover the cost of that class and it's books. Also, try to take your science course/math courses that are required for prerequisites or corequisites in the summer. I found it easier then trying to take a math class a science course, and my first year clinicals in the fall. All of those classes require quite a bit of time, and I couldn't afford to get a C in a Nursing course or clinical. If you've gotten your math and science requirements out of the way, go for your writing and research course or any course you know will require a great deal of reading. I am a nursing Major myself and I found that taking the more time consuming courses I needed in the summer left me more time to concentrate on Nursing classes in the fall and spring semesters. Good Luck! Oh BTW- if financial aid doesn't pay, try your local unemployment office, most have a program like WIA, to help pay for courses!

NO, financial aid does not pay for summer classes, only for the regular semester, and the regular amount of credits you are taking. Most universities charge less for their summer classes for this reason, and offer some other opportunity for you to apply for supplemental funding or scholarships. But your regular financial aid package DOES NOT pay for summer classes.

they posted some great info... and here is some more. there is funding to help pay, because of the field you chose.

also try calling your state nursing board and ask if they know of anything else available in your state. another good source is to call local hospitals and ask about internships and finantial grants/scholarships for people to get their nursing degree.

pass on any info you find, to help others find help with their schooling as well. many people dont know where to begin looking or what to look for.

--------------------------
try to aim for grants/scholarships more... they are not to be paid back. its confusing sometimes, but just keep applying. Scholarships usually have a 1 or 2 page application, and require an essay. Take your time with the essay, so yours stands out.

every big (and small) company you see (manufacturer, orgs, corps and groups also) all have grants and scholarships they hand out like candy. Walmart, Kmart, Target, Coke, computer companies etc etc etc

heres a link with a HUGE amount of some available. some you will need to copy and paste into a new window. also, fastweb (take the time to fill it in) will search databases and get back to you with a list of scholarships you qualify for.

Also contact all mens, womens associations in your state, they almost always have grants & scholarships. What ever field you are going into, contact the orgs, associations etc for them; Also check with professional organizations related to your career interests, such as the American Bar Association or the American Medical Association. they also always have scholarships. Research and dig, call then write. Its all worth it.

OVER apply; it doesnt hurt to have too many, and the extra funds can help with housing.

As long as you are a full-time student (12 credit hours). Scholarships all have different governing rules, but loans and grants require you to be full-time.
