This is a question to all muslims, why circumcision is necessary, There is nothing written about it Quran though it has been written about it in Hadith. Do you really think that if it is not necessary, only sunnah...why do all muslims follow it blindly...
I would ask my son if he wants to get circumsized otherwise I wouldnot like anything which is not natural happening with my son. What do you say?

Its not neccesary but sunnah, if you dont want your son to be circumsized, dont do it, just tell him to get the foreskin clean from inside....but there is another thing and its that you have less chances of getting deseased if you are circumsized.

Well, it's not a topic I'm scholared on, lol, so everything here is based on opinion rather than evidence. I think that in everything God says, there is wisdom, even when we can't see any. I think that in the early days, as far back as the Jewish practices, circumcision was more of a type of sacrifice than anything. But with modern science and discoveries, we find that circumcision is more clean and sanitary than if the foreskin is left. Yes, now we are a more hygenically obsessed people and anyone with foreskin can certainly take care of himself, but remember that circumcision came in a time when personal grooming and hygene were not at the top of the list.
I think most consider this Hadith to be legitimate because it was commanded by God as a practice for the Jewish believers, so even if there isn't any mention of it in the Quran, it is known in the origins of the monotheistic religions.

Remember, only opinion.

I know nothing about the religious practices of Muslims, and am interested myself in reading responses.

I have two sons, and both of them were circumcised shortly after birth, for "health reasons". I was told that they suffer less risk of certain diseases that males can get, with the foreskin removed. However, if I had known then what I do now... (the pain that is suffered) I don't think I would have given my permission.

We are all born "perfect" and created in "God's Image". I would leave that decision (whether or not to be circumcised)up to my sons, when they became old enough.

Sorry I can't answer your question as you wished it answered, but I can give you my thoughts and feelings about it.

In the Christian Bible it is told that since the crucifiction of Christ, circumcision is not longer of the flesh, but of the heart, with no gender intended or involved; that said;
it is done today, not for reasons of religion,
but because it is a health risk not to do it;
both to the man who does not have it done, and to his mate who he would be intimate with. Bacteria grows quite well in any area where moisture, darkness and warmth can be found; it is common sense to have it done.

Circumcision goes back to when Abraham made his covenant with G-d. At the time Ishmael was 5 yrs old. I believe that is the reason the muslims circumcise when their boys are older. We circumcise when the boy is 8 days old.

Because fools believe it is!

I say you're on the right track!

All you need to do is to teach your kid to bathe daily and clean up under the foreskin! That's all.

Why should you mutilate your kid, because some fool believes it's a Covenant?

Cheers!
