Look at the pictures, then look at your room- especially the wall space. And go from there. Get a friend to help, if you feel you can't be objective.

Your question is a bit unclear. If the pictures are a "pair," that is, matching frames with similar subject matter, you can hang them in any number of ways. They can be placed side by side, in a vertical arrangement, or diagonal, which means a staggered positioning.

Generally speaking, a horizontal arrangement would look best on a horizontal wall; if you have a narrow, vertical space, then put the pictures one on top of the other, vertically.
If you have a big wall with nothing on it and the two pictures are going to "lost," try adding some other items to make a grouping. If you have a lot of things to compose a grouping, such as items of different shapes and sizes, try tracing and cutting each one out of brown paper first. Play around with the placement of the paper "accessories," taping them in place with transparent tape. This takes a lot of time, although it's not hard work. The result is a much more attractive and professional "look." You're apt to get a response such as, "That looks so good! How did you know where to put all that stuff to make it look so perfect?"

In any of these configurations, you'll want to "eyeball" for the distance between the frames. Don't put them too far apart!
However, you can hang something between the two pictures, whether they are in a vertical or horizontal placement. You could use a smaller decorative mirror (or mirrors) a grille, a wreath, a wall vase with flowers, a shelf, a sconce, etc.

If the pictures are not a "pair," but are similar in frames, colors, subject matter, mat, etc. you can still use them close to one another or in a grouping. Try the other ideas to come up with the best choice.

the best way to find the way to position pictures is to use a sheet of paper the size of your frame and tape it to the wall. then you will know how to position your pictures.

It really depends on what size they are? Do they compliment eachother?
If they are the same size...I love pics side by side and level. If they aren't the same size and look kind of different I would put them on different walls.

If the same size, they should be hung at the same level. If different, any way you want.
