Squidgy ~
Heavyweight Vaulev's record is impressive too don't ya think? Joe is an average Joe at best. He doesn't rate in the top 300 fighters of all time. As a matter of fact Bruce "The Mouse" Strouse would rate above Joe.

Thanks for the question Squidgy.

After final nighttime i'm specific the hoop mag will rank Calzaghe interior the the excellent option 10. Mayweather is #a million till somebody conquers him. If Mayweather hangs around long sufficient somebody will beat him, Ricky Hatton isn't the fighter this is going to do it. If Mayweather loses every time interior the close to destiny then Pacquiao would be ranked because of the fact the the excellent option fighter pound for pound. final nighttime's Calzaghe/Kessler combat proved one element, hand velocity continually beats punching means. Mayweather has the quickest hands in all of boxing and Hatton would not have plenty punching means at 147. there is not any way Hatton will win this combat, he would not have the means to KO Mayweather and he's not speedy sufficient to land a flush shot on his chin. If Mayweather chooses to stand toe to toe with Hatton he will supply Little Ricky the comparable beating he gave Arturo Gatti.

Being Welsh, I'd love to be able to say he's right up there, but he's not. At all.

That big Russian freak, Valuev, is 46-0 at the moment. Do you think he should be above Calzaghe? I'm not a mind reader, but I'd say you don't.

Unfortunately for Calzaghe, possibilities of fighting people such as Kessler, Taylor etc have come late in his career, which again, unfortunately, is common for British fighters because a lot of the talent is in the Americas and they won't get noticed across the Atlantic unless they've had a billion fights over here.

Calzaghe pound for pound would make it in the top 150 of all time and top 30 middleweights but would be higher if he had been a little more tested and born into a little more tallented middleweight Era, he was protected from the top 10 for too long but now has established himself as one of the best, if not The best at his weight, what he does from now will make the difference in him being remembered as good or great! His annihilation of Lacy tells me he is awsome but to be remembered as great he would have to complete a conquest such as this - collects and retains the main belts in his devision for another 4-5 years (two fight a year) possibly move up a weight and beat the best, beat any champs that move up to challenge and if he is beaten on such a conquest all defeats would need to be rectified in the rematch. Thats what it takes to be anong the best of all time. Heres some of the all time best middleweights - Robinson, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Jones Jr and maybe Hopkins. Hope this helped.

Where does he on the all time best list? He's not on it.

His record is good of course but he doesn't have very many notable victories dispite his win over Jeff Lacy.

Alot of peoples records are close. Valuev, Floyd, Hatton, Cotto. These guys are undefeated too.

And best record off all time definetly not. Rocky Marciano was undefeated and Sugar Ray Robinson had two times more knockouts than Calzaghe has total fights.

I think he'll fit in the top 200 fighters of all time. He has numerous title defenses to prove that. He also boasts an undefeated record right now. I think he should start beating more big-names opponents now, before his age catches up to him. That will solidify his legacy as a champion and as a fighter.

Of all time? Maybe somewhere from 80 to 90. He hasn't fought a lot of great competition due to his relatively unpopular weight class.

I'd put him at 7 or 8 of current fighters, pound for pound.

Doesn't rate in the top 200 all time. Good fighter but he seems to have missed out on his oppurtunity to be classified as a great fighter. Doesn't fight the best in his weight division.
I'd be interested to read your answer to my question in reference to Calzaghe. Thanks.
