It has nothing to do with whether it is the truth or not. It has to do with the person's motivation for saying it. If someone is saying "fat" because they know it bothers you and hurts your feelings, then it's wrong. If it's your mom, saying she;s concerned because you're getting a little fat and she's worried about your health, etc. then it's not so wrong, although probably could be done better.

it would be rude. I know im overweight but dont like to be called fat. Although it may be true, people don't need to point out the obvious - especially when most people who are overweight dont like the extra pounds and may be a little sensitive to it.

look at it this way if you where fat would you need someone to tell you about it or would you already know it.
so what would be the point in saying it.
the person all ready knew this fact.
you would just be saying this to be spiteful or mean. so stay away from stating the obvious it's just not necessary to go there.

it may be the truth, but it's still mean. if you were fat, and someone called you fat it would make you feel like a piece of **** . just like if you had a fat ***, you don't want someone to say "Hey fat ***, move out of my way" its rude, and you have to consider peoples feelings no matter if it's true or not.

well. if it was said in a mean way toward you for ex. then yes it is very mean and horrible. but if it was said personally to try to help you along saying that your obiece and mabee finding a way to help- then no thats not mean. and if its said jokingly then it might be a little mean and the person might get offended or hurt. weight is a big struggle so no one should say that to a rather large person unless its to help them. for example. if you had like a huge nose- and you hated your nose- and someone told you to be funny- ew you have ahuge nose! your feelings will be hurt

Its very rude and insensitive for sure. This subject is very touchy anyway it goes though. Would you be insulted if someone politely came up to you and told you they thought you should lose weight for the sake of your health? I know I would still probably be a little taken a back.

It's a rude way to put it, but if it's the truth then it's not horrible.
