I know snakes scare birds. So you could try to put out realistic fake snakes around your porch. We used to do that to keep the snakes to keep the birds from eating my cats food. We just had one snake and move it from place to place.

You have to use an empty plastic bleach bottle or other large plastic bottle.Wash it out well.Punch two holes just below the lid.Tie a string through these holes.Leave a lop hanging the bird house.Cut a holeat the botttom for the bird to get in.The hole should be about to inches wide.Glue a foil pan.Put seeds in the foil pan. That stops birds from building nests on the porch but above the porch.

My advice is to visit the spot often and make a lot of commotion. The more activity the birds see, the less likely they'll want to nest there. Birds, in general, like peace and quiet when they're breeding and any disturbance, especially chronic disturbance, will change their minds. If you don't mind the birds around, you can always set up a nest box or two and some nesting material such as inch long pieces of twine. Eventually the birds will go away, having found a more peaceful location.
