Ouch! Oooooooh!
Jokes apart, the "Medical" reason for circucision was that there was a rash of UTIs [Urinary Tract Infection] way back then! Circumcising made it possible to loosent the aperture and clean out the penis.
However, do you know what is the simple reason why this happened?
Because those filthy people did not Bathe!?!?
Just bathing every day, and cleaning the area under the foreskin is all that's necessary to keep away UTIs!
So, if you think that that's a Covenant with God, well, all I can say is -
God help you!
Cheers!
ST
Sheesh, that Yoda!
So I called four Urologist friends and not a single of their kids are circumcised! By the way, one of them is a Muslim, who's modernised after moving here to USA!
Pork! OMG, the same stupid reason is there for that, too! The dumbos didn't know how to cook the meat correctly and got infections way back then!
How many pork eaters have been infected nowadays? None!
I love my bacon and I've never been sick!
Go figure!

I agree. Human males are commanded by God to circumcise. That is why Muslims and Jews do and that is why Christians must also obey.
I was circ'ed fairly recently and I didn't have any pain or discomfort whatsoever. It looks great and there's no longer any smell, especially in summer because there's no smegma or stale urine buildup problem. In fact there are so many health benefits with circumcision and very few risks.
I haven't lost sensitivity in the glans (the size of which increases after the op by the way) and the feeling around the cut line during erections is nothing short of electrifying! I find that orgasm feels much more intense post-circ than it ever did when I was intact.
I didn't lose any nerve endings in the inner foreskin. But I don't think it matters much anyway because a penis is all about deep-pressure sensors and sensations of pleasure for me have never had anything to do with the foreskin.
The anti-circ league and the scare-mongerers that put me off being circumcised for years have no clue and neither does anyone who hasn't been circumcised as an adult.

It doesn't seem likely that Circumcision is an integral part of a religious life.
And while there are claims that it healthier, and other claims that it is not, the difference must not be very significant. After all, there aren't any hospital wards filled with infected penis victims, are there?
And what about Europe, where circumcision is less frequent. Are they walking around with penile infections just looming over their heads?
And off the record, if God is really concerned about my penis, then I'm a little uncomfortable.

Well the idea that it's in the bible and that makes it OK is asinine to the extreme.
Just like the ban on eating pork, circumcision has medical reasons behind it.
Ask any urologist if their son is circumcisied and they will tell you yes.
Because they've seen too many problems with uncircumcised ones.
And that's just another bit of evidence to support evolution. No way would an "intelligent designer" put in such a painful flaw into it's creation.

No men in my family are circumcized. My little brother has never had an infection, my mom would just make sure he was clean. If parents actually took a little time to make sure their son's penis was clean there wouldn't be infections. Many say that circumcision is better and healthier, but many women are fine with uncircumcized penises and if the guy is clean there is no risk of an infection. Also, some uncircumcized penis are said to give more pleasure to the woman. I think it should be left to the parent but I don't think I will ever be able to do it to my son.

Actually the religious association with circumsicion is from the old testament and was deemed by the son of god to be the law of man not the law of god. In fact, all of the old testament prohibitions were refuted by jesus in the new testament with the exception fo the 10 commandments.
So, having foreskin is fine as is masturbation, eating shellfish and wearing garments of mixed fibres. But be wary when you are contemplating adultery or murder or one of the big 10.

And much more effective than a cold shower.
Seriously,it is a simply procedure and is encouraged by the medical profession as being a sanitary preventative to a probable bacterial issue.
It is no longer required in covenant with God,however. And has nothing to do with salvation or obedience to Him.

I think that male circumcision is wrong to do for religious reasons if you are not Jewish
circumcision is a part of the covenant that G-d made specifically with the Jews, so only the Jews, who still keep that covenant, should do it
but there is nothing wrong with circumcision in general for health reasons
for health reasons there are many good reasons to make the snip

After all, Paul did say that physical circumcision is no longer valid...only spiritual circumcision is. But God stated that the male was supposed to be circumcised. I think it's a good thing...it also is good for ones health.
EDIT: i agree with Rhymes with Camera

It is worse to call people idiots than to be circumcised. To belong to God, you do not have to have yourself cut. Children belong to God anyway until the age of accountability. No one can make that decision for others what comes to giving one's life to God. If you do circumcision by law, then you are bound to law. I rather get saved by grace and mercy than by deeds. : )
