I heard from a coworker that revlon makes a hair straightener that is as good as the salon straighteners worth $200 but the revlon straightener is worth $30... I went out and bought one last night a 1inch solid ceramic straightener(worth $45) and the thing doesn't get hot.. just maybe a little over room temperature.. not enough to burn my hand.. What hair straightener is the best for my dollar. I dont want to spend $200 on a straightener.. Now I'm off to work with my hair pulled into a bun to hide my thick poofy wavy really bad hair...

Check out this website. I've owned a ton of hair straighteners, Yes, get a ceramic one but this website has them for REALLY cheap, cheaper than from amazon or anything else.

I highly recommend the Solia which is $85-$98 depending on the size you want. They say the Sedu works great too, but its more expensive $118-$126 but check out the website, read the reviews, & please dont fall into the trap of getting a CHI because those things break so often its a wonder why they even sell them!
Heres a link to the solia straighteners & the sedu, GOOD LUCK=)

P.S.- the revlon hair straightener is not good AT ALL.

I have wavy (read - unmanageable) hair, and i've been at war with it for years :). Recently i decided it was time for drastic measures and went to a salon for professional help. I got curl relaxer (which is about $70 and will last about 3 months), and my life is so much easier now. Curl relaxer is a salon procedure when chemicals are put into your hair to loosen up the curls. It is not harsh or damaging like permanent straightening and it will not get rid of the curls completely, but hair will definitely be more manageable and easier to style and straighten. If you do decide to get it done, only trust professionals (i.e. Tony&Guy).

You should check out an ethnic salon to make sure you dont have any chemical burns to the scalp. They have the most expierence and let me tell you after a straightner(relaxer)what you do after is just as important as the first step.Tell them what you did and ask for a body wrap, where they set your hair on very large rollers for the maximum straightness your hair can achieve.once it drys (not very long)they will wrap your hair in a circular motion around your entire head and place you under the dryer for about 10 more minutes. This will work and it should be around $40-$45 dollars. However you should take the iron back and invest in a good one like Chi($120) but you never have to worry about half stright hair again.

the best straightener that ive used is solia , the 1" flat iron and hair straightener. its pretty expensive (about $100), but its worth it. it doesnt cause any frizz and makes your hair nice and soft. i cant afford that kind, so i use remington "wet to straight" straightener. it straightens pretty well, it heats up in a matter of seconds (you can choose the hottest setting which is up to 30) , you can use it on wet or dry hair and its only $30 (can be bought at any pharmacy)

There's a Conair hair straightener that works pretty well its called "Infiniti"...I've used many others before and they only made my hair more poofy. I never thought I would have the straight look that lasted for days. The straigthener has about 5 degree settings, its about 1 inch, very light-weight and easy to use.

Okay, Most of these people are talking about cheap brands which break mor offen then the expensive ones. I recomend a CHI which is about $120 to $150. the tempurature gets to about 450 degrees and they haven't recalled any of them if you want to go alittle cheaper you can go to the mall they have them alittle cheaper at the salons there.

hope i helped

I use the Maximus hair straightener which is about $80. It works well with my hair (which is curly). It actually shoots steam through your hair as it straightens which is better for your hair and it feels really soft. Also, makes your hair really shin all over.

Ghd ceramic are the best, a bit pricey, but if you ask me you cant put a price on your hair, after all you are straightening it to make it look good and the cheaper straighteners ruin it. believe me i have been straightening my hair for 13 years!!
