I understand that in the Arabic translation, 'In the begining Allah created the heavens and the earth' is this correct?

Yes in Arabic translations of the Bible God is called "Allah", not as a title but because it is the Arabic word for God. However I think Arabic translations of the Bible are not translations of the King James Version which is itself an English translation of the Hebrew and Greek original. I think that Arabic translations of the Bible are translations of the same Hebrew and Greek original.
In German translations of the Bible God is called "Gott", in French translations "Dieu", in Spanish translations "Dios", in Russian translations "Bog" and so on. All languages have their own word for God.

Yes, you are correct. In all Arabic Bibles, Allah is used. In fact, all whose native tongue is Arabic use the term Allah as referring to their God, be they Muslim, Christian, even Jews!
