First of all we must define both jinn and angel
Jinn: a creature that's made of fire and some of them are believers , others are not . and they are nearly the same as human being as they can eat, marry , reproduce , and die.
Angel: a creature made from light and their only job is to worship and praise God , and to thank Him for his blessings upon them and upon all the creatures
also they don't eat , sleep, marry , will die at the day of Judgment .

Jinns are not angels. Angels only do what God orders them to do. Jinns are like humans. There are good and bad jinns (yes they were made from smokeless fire) . The good jinns cannot interfere with our lives. But bad jinns are the ones responsible for ghost sightings, phsycics, and they can cause a lot of commotion. If a donkey brays at night or a dog barks at night it is said that they have seen a jinn. They (bad jinns) hang out around dogs, snakes and pigs ( i think) Bad jinns to shaitaans handy work. Kind of like a demon ya know.

The difference between angels & jinns is that... All angels obey Allah swt whereas not all jinns do. In fact there are Muslim jinns and non Muslim jinns, good ones and bad ones.
The jinns are NOT fallen angels. They were created from a smokeless flame of fire. The first recorded jinn to be disobedient is Iblis. Disbelieving, disobedient jinn and humans are known as shayateen (satans). (from http://muttaqun.com/jinn.html)

Alright according to the Quran, there's only four creature (except animals) in the world, there's human, devil, angels and jinn (which I'm really glad because that means there no such thing as ghost).
You guys know what the human, angels and devils are...
Jinn is mostly like human, they don't have goals in life (Devil, trying to bring human down, Angel, trying to help). Just leading a life...
They are living around us, and they hate us...and they hate to be seen and hated if you enter their place...
They are the only creature that can appear and dissappear...(other than angels, human can't do it, and neither does the devil).
Oh yeah, there's a saying of "the worst human is the best jinn" so I wonder how the worst jinn is....?

According to Islam,
Jinn are best related to spirits. Jinn can be what we consider good or bad. They have the will, like humans, to decide their course. However, angels were created to serve God and cannot (by their nature) disobey him. Therefore, even the angel that takes our souls at death is not a 'bad' angel.
With this said, the devil is known to be a jinn. He opted not to postrate to Adam (peace be upon him). And was forced from Heaven. An angel, would not have been able to make such a decision.

You are correct, angels are creatures created from light, jinn are creatures created from fire, they aren't the same. Jinn, like humans, were given free will, so there are good jinn and there are bad jinn. Satan (shaytan) is a jinn. After God created Adam, He commanded all His creations to bow to Adam. Satan was arrogant and believed that since he was created from fire, he's much better than this thing made from earth and refused to bow to him, beginning his curse.

Exactly what Faroz said! The Jinn are all around us and if we are good people and have good faith then the Jinn around us will be good as well...
Some can associate themselves with Satan just as humans can...They are basically like us but they were made from Smoke....
It's said that the Jinn become good and Righteous when you read the Quran, as they stand next to you reading it and learn and know what is right from wrong with it..

Jinn are like us, means they too have free will but they are made with smokeless fire. They are not angels. Angels are made with Noor. Among Jinn, some are good and some are bad, they have religions too. Satan was one among the Jinn.

I'm not muslim but I do believe the a jinn is pretty evil and couldn't be an angel.
