after one dose i broke out, now i have cephalexin,first time taking it, how long before it kicks in?

You don't say what the infection is. Usually, an antibiotic takes about 48 hours to act. In typhoid fever and urinary tract infection, it takes longer. Before fever subsides completely, the number of spikes per day decrease. The height of the spike comes down. The appetite and sense of well being improve. This shows that the antibiotic is working.

Usually it take about 24 hours for ANY antibiotic to start to kick in. Be sure your doc notes your allergy to Levaquin on your chart so they don't accidently give it to you again.

I'm a nurse and use as directed. If you are not feeling better after or about when the medication is gone, it didn't help you and ask for something else. I hope you feel better soon.

I took levaqun for an injection in my sinuses, and

took it for the prescribed period the dr told me,

and the injection went away and never came back.

Great drug levaquin is.
