Oh! so you did get your puppy! Im very happy, have you found anyone whos willing to help you out?
The puppy may have some problems if taken away from their mother less than 8 weeks, and may be a bit weaker. But it depends on the puppy, and what it eats. ALso, if it is too young, people can buy puppy milk powderd, or canned, and a bottle, or if its old enough you can mix some milk with the puppy food.
But remeber, since your in an apartment, and it may be alone for a while, Kongs, and toys. and someone to give it exercise. But if its only a puppy, all it really needs for exercise is about 45 min in the morning, and anout 45-60 mins at night. Not the 1 hour jog an adult needs 3 times a day, and lots of puppy food and water.
E-mail me, tell me about your puppy and where you got it!!! what does it look like!
Oh, and you know how you said I sounded like a Professional dog breeder, Im only 16.
I just know alot about animals. My familey works in the circus, so I have been around Domestic and exotic animals all my life, and we have a dobie act, and I know lots about training too if you wanted some help. But remeber, if you decide not to take me up on my offer, When training your puppy, Dont hurt it when it dosent listen, and stay very patient. Puppys are still new and delicate, and dont know what their really doing, you should start potty training, as soon as possible.=]

I have a male german shepherd that was taken from his mother too early; all the pups were because the mom was out of milk. I don't know how any of the other pups ended up, but he is a great dog. He is trained to be a service dog and is a very good boy and @ 103 lbs, he's definitely not small. The first couple of years were rough though, he whined quite a bit and sucked on the corners of the couch, comforters, towels, stuffed animals, whatever. He grew out of it for the most part although at night he still gets a stuffed animal to carry around in his mouth, and you always find a couple by his bed.

My pit bull was taken from her mother at 2 days old(long story). By most odds she shouldn't have even lived, but she did. She is by no means weaker. If anything, she is more dominant. she also has grown to about 70 pounds and she is now 2 1/2 years old. Depends on the overall circumstance, but it shouldn't make that much of a difference. It isn't a good idea to purposefully wean dogs under 8 weeks old though. If they can stay on "mom" they should. In reality it is always better and healthy for them.

Aside from the behavioral issues that may occur if you wean a puppy to early there can also be medical issues as well.
Weaning puppy early should not be carried out in general. However, this may happen in case of orphaned puppies whose mother might encounter death due to some medical reasons.
In these cases, care needs to be exercised in feeding because if you give more feed or unaccustomed feed, the puppies may develop diarrhea. And there are occasions of constipation noticed in the weaned puppies. Hence, weaning a puppy need special attention in case of early weaning.
Hence, during weaning the puppies early, due to what ever is the reason, one should understand that these puppies might not have drunken adequate amounts of mother’s milk that is enriched with nutrients.
This may lead to increased susceptibility to diseases pertaining to various systems and even they become vulnerable for viral infections like parvo viral infection that is recognized by the occurrence of blood tinged diarrhea (Melena).
Weaning puppy early is not to be considered as a natural one and hence, more health related measures have to be undertaken to safe guard these puppies especially from various systemic diseases. These puppy's are particularly vulnerable to the digestive disorders and hence, meticulous care is to be taken during weaning the puppies.
The longer you can keep the puppy with mom, the better. Optimum time with mom would be 10 to 12 weeks.

Its not a matter of will it be weaker or not but a matter of it learning skills that he will need as a dog. Feeding manners, Pack manners etc.
The earliest a dog should be weened is 8 weeks no sooner. The longer the dog stays with its mother the healthier (pack oriented etc) it will be. I recommend keeping the dog w/ its family up untill 12-14 weeks of age.

Not necessarily.. It's not really the physically developement, it's the mental development that is
hurt by being removed from it's mom early.
Unless of course it was removed at birth and didn't get the proper milk from mom early in it's development.
