Hi, help me out here....so much info out there on diff kinds of milk Im confused.I basically want info on which milk is the best to drink in order to help with moving things along effectively in the bowel.Iv seen oat milk and thought that may help, then someone suggested soy milk, then skimmed millk, etc....list goes on. So much choice now but it makes things more difficult! I love milk but just want to know what to have with cereal in order to not get so constipated and bloated. You see i like to experiment with new foods and so this could be fun but it would be nice to get rid of my bloat n constipation at the same time. Dont want to go on a silly diet. But this is mainly about milk, what do people think? Also does oat milk help with inducing good soft regular motions?Hope u can help!

Personally, I've found that fiber is always the best answer. There's a certain type of fiber mix-in that's clear and tasteless, almost like sugar, that you can mix in with literally anything. You might want to buy that and just mix it in with your milk.

Your symptoms described from consuming milk/milk products sound like you make be Lactose Intolerant. This is the bodies inability to break down the lactose found in milk. There are items you can purchase OTC at any drugstore or Wal-mart such as Lactaid. You take one tablet prior to consuming any product that contains milk... read labels, even bread contains milk. There is also a Lactose Free/Fat Free milk available in most grocery stores.

Perhaps you need to gradually add more fiber in your diet as well, fruit, apples, etc with oatmeal or other high fiber cereal. Although please keep in mind that as your digestive or gastrointestinal tract deals with the new amounts of fiber, increased bloating/gas may occur. That's why it needs to be a gradual introduction.

Another possible cause for bloat/constipation can also be IBS or irritable bowel syndrome, a stress related problem. Check with your physician about the possibility of either.

I'm a nurse and you should use a laxative along with skim milk that really is the healthiest. Also just so you know you could develop a bowel obstruction and that can turn fatal. So use any form of a laxative to keep you regular, your life could depend on it. Take care and all the best.
