When you get a prank call next time play along with what they say. If they are joking around say something smart back but laugh so they know it doesn't bother you. If you don't feel comfortable doing that just hang up right away. Eventually they'll give up. Hope the calls stop and good luck.

For those in the States who don't know, in the rest of the world, the caller pays for calls to cell phones, like long distance. Special numbers were assigned to cell phones so it is possible to tell if you are calling a cell phone, unlike the U.S. where it was fought tooth and nail by people who wanted to hide the fact they were using cell phones.

Yep phone BT and they can limit the types of numbers you can call. I think you can password / access code protect it as well meaning you can call these numbers after you have entered a 4 digit passcode so you dont have to fully bar any of these numbers for everyone (only those who don't have the code).

You can with BT not sure of the others - I can't remember the number but you can do it from the phone - it is # followed by a number - if you have BT then look on their website or give them a ring you can also block premium numbers and international. Sorry I can't remember the number

Call Barring lets you decide which types of calls are made from your phone, putting you in control of who uses it and how. To make calls to any of the barred numbers, you will need to enter a PIN number. Costs £1.75 per month.

Yes. If you get in touch with your phone provider they can put a pin number on your phone line so that only people with the pin can phone cell numbers or other 0900 numbers etc.

Yes, if you go to your calls manger you should be able to block any number you wish, so check that out. Its like MSN blocking, they can call you but the call will not be connected

If you are in UK and with BT call 0800 800 150 to set up call barring.. it's 1.75/month or 5.25/quarter. (Better than getting hit with a huge bill).
You type a code in to 'lock' your phone but you can still 'unlock' it if you want too!

Hope helps!

Contact your phoneline provider and they have lots of different call barring options but it does cost extra.

Yes, call your provider and they can set this up for you - at no cost usually.
