Your question is irrelevant, cheating is wrong whether it is a set up or not. Effectively you are saying the only reason you wouldn't cheat is if you suspected it was a test to reveal whether you would cheat in the first place. It sounds like you are a bit disingenuous about what your intentions are in the first place, perhaps you should re-evaluate your position in this relationship, becuase if you were really into this person, there would be NO question.

it doesn't matter what the situation is basically the best way to deal with this without getting involved in any horrible emotional web entanglement is draw clear boundaries with the friend and tell him/her you're clearly interested in your partner and nobody else. then be honest with your partner and tell him/her that his/her friend has being hitting on you and you're telling him/her because you feel that you've gatta be honest and truthful with her. set-up or just a lousy friend wanting someone's else fling, brownie points for dealing with it logically and maturedly! do what's right!

Well, you have two options. You can cheat on your significant other or you can not cheat on them. The choice is yours. Regardless of whether it is a setup or not, ultimately if you go through with it, you have made a conscious decision to cheat.

Keeping anything from your significant other only causes problems in a relationship! So, doesn't matter which it is, they need to know about it!
At least they do if you are interested in keeping your relatioship going! If not, then end it before seeing someone else!

Could easily be a set up.
Unless they are trying to get into your pants - it could be something it's not.
Of course, the whole thing is in your court, and it's up to you in who you love.
