It really doesn't matter since the two have merged.

They are in the process of merging and it should be a done deal by the end of the year.
I've been an XM subsciber for 3 years and absolutely LOVE it. It blows away anything am/fm can offer. They've been assuring us that our current radios will work once the merger is approved. Even if the 12.95 a month goes up to $20 a month, I'll still keep it. Deep Tracks XM40 ALONE is worth the subscription.
To I know this below:

We have a Sirius radio where I work and to be honest with you I wouldn't pay money for what I have heard so far on that thing. It's the same lame *** DJ,s and same songs you hear on regular radio but you have to pay for it so from what I have heard of it in the last year I would not pay for it myself personally.
WOW...Have you ever considering listening to more than 1 or 2 channels?
As with XM, there ARE a few top 20 channels that play the same crap over and over (w/o commercials) . If people buy the radio for this purpose, they're wasting their money. The bottom line is, XM /Sirious is SO much more diverse than am/fm can even dream of being that it's a no brainer.

I would say sirius! I have sirius in m car & my wife has XM. If you like sports, get the sirius. Sirius has the contract rights to all NBA, NCAA, NFL games. So no matter what team you like u can always listen to them on radio. XM cannot play the games. Sirius traffic update stations are way better than XM. It's very helpful, with dealing with this Los Angeles traffic. The Sirius add on radios are better also. I have the Sportstar replay, and it records up to 30 minutes of programing, as long as u keep the sirius radio power on, if u missed something or u wanted to listen to the song you just heard again, u just rewind, and it will play it. It also come with reminders, so when you hear your favorite song or artist, u can save up to 30 of them in your Sirius radio, it will alarm you about 30 seconds before the songs play, that your favorite song or artist is about to play on which ever radio station. I have not seen a XM radio that does that. It also tells you that your favorite sport team is playing, and the channel. It has the NBA, NFL, and Nascar channels. The only thing i don't like is, Sirius signals are weaker than XM. You will lose receptions at gas stations, a garage, and tall trees, but u will get use to it. XM, u can listen to it almost anywhere. Its rare for XM to drop a signal.

i just switched from xm to sirius. Music channels are much better on sirius. They ahven't merged yet and the merger probably wont be approved by the ftc since merging will create a monopoly .

Sirius bought xm, so I would go with with sirius, because the xm people may have to buy sirius recievers(prabably at a discount).

I believe Sirius and XM are attempting a merger. Check Forbes.com
Point is, if they merge it will not matter.
