how do I get my cat on my sleeping schedule?

You don't. Cats nap all through the day and night (hence the term catnap) and don't sleep a solid 8 hours like humans do.

Just because they don't wake you up doesn't mean they're sleeping!

While you may never get him or completely on your schedule (especially if it changes depending on the day or due to daylight saving time), you can do a few things to encourage your cat to not wake you in the wee hours of your day. First, have a big play session lasting at least 10-15 minutes shortly before bed. Use strings, laser pointers, or other toys to get your cat running all over the place. Then, feed your cat an evening meal just before you go to sleep. The cat will be more likely to sleep through the night as he/she will be tired and full of food. You may want to experiment with feeding canned food instead of dry, as some people have found that their cat stays full longer with canned food (though obviously avoid the recalled brands).

My cats are pretty much on a scedule because I am. I wake up the same time M-F, and they (2 cats and 1 dog) let me sleep in for about 1.5 hours longer on the weekend before they want me to get up. So, if you are on schedule, they will be too.

You can't really do that. I have 2 kittens and I have tried myself. They are night animals, that's why you see them sleeping alot during the day. My little guys come up by me at 7:00 PM and fall asleep. When I'm finally asleep they will wake up and start running around the house like a herd of elephants.

You can't. Cats are nocturnal and are naturally active at night.
