Yes. Same-sex activity has been observed many times in many different animal species, which is one in the eye for the fundies who say homosexuality is 'unnatural'.

I was watch two mallard drakes going at it like knives yesterday! Of course, it could just be case of being so sexed up they'd have a go at anything! (As the Dalek said as it climbed off the dustbin, anyone can make a mistake!)

Many of the previous answers state that same sex activity has occured between animals, but I do not think this is truly a sexual assertion. I think the reason male dogs hump other male dogs is because of dominance, and not a homosexual tendency or urge. Even if the dog were to acheive penetration (which does not generally occur), I think it is a matter of blind horniness or dominance that drives that activity, not the dog's sexual preference. By the way, the only two animals documented as having sex for pleasure are humans and dolphins, which further demonstartes that the action of humping another dog is not a matter of sexual expression rather assertion of dominance over the other dog.

If you trim a male poodle to look gay... it will do just that ... look gay... but it will not be gay because a dog does not distinguish a preference for sex from one gender or the other... they will mount another male occasionally in dominance, but they will always mount a female in heat, or at least try to when placed in the same area ! A neutered dog will also display differing characteristics as well... mounting still occurs sometimes with the male trying both sexes... but achieving nothing because it's neutered ! Being gay is a preference, not a genetic abnormality as many people have claimed !

LOL - no. There are no gay dogs. If your male dogs are mounting each other or other species its all about dominance.

Mounting is a way they show they are alpha. You should keep your dog from doing that since YOU should be the leader of the pack.

Dogs will display that type of behavior to assert dominance over other dogs of the same sex. They are trying to be the alfa leader of the pack. This does not necessarily mean that they are gay. Some trainers will advise pet owners who are having problems with dogs not listening to them to straddle the dogwhile standing and hold them between your legs. This to the dog is like mounting him. You will establish yourself as the alfa leader.

All animals can be gay. A gay duck is called ducky. A group of gay lions is called a gay pride

I think any animal can be, their were 2 male penguins which got togehter in Bristol zoo, despite the fact there were loads of females round them! Penguins do pair up for life though, and there still together to this day. Dogs are different though, and maybe if you find your dog is trying to mate with another male, perhaps its just a dominance thing, we have 2 male dogs in our flats and their always trying to hump each other!. Their not gay though (I suppose they could be bi-sexual!) or maybe just trying to show who's boss, as they pay major attention to females as well.

no. because being gay is only in the influence of human community. as dogs not human, they cannot be gays and all dogs have thier own reproductive organs so they have their own means of not being a gay
