me and my friends have all experienced hot tears.. it wasnt because it was a hot night or anything.. i think its because we were angry, and the anger was probably making my body hot.. and i cry cold tears whenever i think of my grandparents, the tears are not freezing cold or anything, theyre just colder than regular tears.. i dont know maybe my body is just stuffed up xD thanks for your thoughts

hmm -
well, usually - and i'm sure you feel this when you do cry, your face gets warm and red and what not. and, i think what's happening is that blood is rushing to your face like it would if you're blushing et.al.
crying is our body's way of releasing toxins called Endorphines. Endorphines are chemicals that are roused during high times of emotion, joy, anger, fear, sadness etc. crying is our way of releasing those toxins. which is interesting because crying is one of those things that happen with most emotion - joy, sadness, anger, fear...those are all different emotions, yet we can cry at any of those times.

cold tears, that's a new one to me. there have been times when I cry when i don't feel "hot" - if that's what that means. usually it's during those times when you cry because you need a release - not necessarily a high emotion moment. i mean, there was a movie a while back that i would cry at, but it was mostly just tears - not boo-hoo sobbing, maybe that's what it is. there could be those times when your body just needs to release and that's the way it happens.

that's an interesting one to me....

I think it's just a figure of speech that people use to describe the emotions with which the person is crying. Hot tears can mean deliberately crying while cold tears can mean not crying with emotion or not having any effect on the person they're crying to.
Or what do u now it could just be what the others are answering!!

This is interesting. I've only cried hot/warm tears. I would assume that's because of body temperature. I'm curious to know more about cold tears. Has this happened to your personally?
