This guy I like and his friend were talking in another class [my own friend overheard] and my name came up somehow. His friend playfully hit him on his shoulder and he smiled after hearing my name. Keep in mind that he was listing people that he thought were silly or funny, and my name came up, even though I haven't talked to him for about 2-3 months.
A. Why did MY NAME come up so soon when we haven't even talked?
B. Why did he smile after saying my name after his friend hit him on the arm playfully?

I would say it could be two things...
1. He likes you.
2. Maybe they have some kind of inside joke about you or something you did or said or something like that.
I would hope for the best

Maybe you left an impression. I just can't tell you if that's good or bad.
If he did smile, that could be a good thing.
You'll never know until you ask him.
Don't be scared to just talk to someone, it's one of the more harmless things you can do.

its possible that both of them know that u likes him and so when ur name is mentioned, his fren made fun of him..
whether he likes u or not is another thing
