I have an audition today. I was wondering if you had tips about singing, dancing, acting, what to where, how to act, etc. Anything would be greatly appreciated!

My sister does musicals in NYC so she says to dress nice but not so nice that you can't move around in it (like if you have to dance, wear stretchy black pants and a nice top, with a nice bright wifebeater underneath) when singing bring a selected material that you chose (doesn't have to be from the musical that you're doing, but it impresses the judges if you do this) and sing like you already have the part. Don't eat any dairy or sweets or anything heavy (like a dinner she said you could go on an empty stomach or eat somthing lite hours before hand) b/c it coats your throat and you can't sing as well. When acting its' best to know how the character acts thinks feels, apply yourself in the characters same situtation and think how would i feel in this situation? then act it out like it was happening right then. Danceing, really get into it and pour yourself into it! enjoy it! you can express yourself this way too and if the judges see that you can look ALIVE on stage that will also make a big statement about you. When talking be curtious and polite but make sure that you don't seem like a mouse. have a polite demenor but let that stage lion shine through....not too much or you'll frighten not intice like you want to. GOOD LUCK!!!

I agree with all.

And I would add: try not to take the audition as too personal, see it more as if you are taking part of a workshop. This attitude helps you to relax. If you are relaxed you will feel more secure and even have fun doing it.

My advice would be to stand up straight and make eye contact. You should wear all or mostly black. A lot of choreographers and dancers look at it as a very proffesional color. Try to avoid fidgeting or rocking back and forth. Whatever you do, DO NOT cross your arms while auditioning. GOOD LUCK! - dance24/7

OK OK calm down.
wear something that you are comfortable in, that says you are all business.
While singing/dancing/acting Just relax and look comfortable, even if you are about to faint.
But most af all Have fun.
I wish you the best of luck!
