Hello. I just bought a Magnavox LCD HDTV yesterday. We hooked it up to our HDTV-DVR digital cable box. The HD channels are amazing! I can't wait for them all to go HD.
My questions is, is it normal the the channels that aren't HD look a little fuzzy I guess you could call it? I mean , they looked better on my old tv analog tv. I was told it is becuase it is a 42 tv and the picture is being streached and distorted. And that the only channels that will look crystal clear are the HD channels.

yeh that wot happens to us our tv is 42 inch so the tv makes the picture bigger so i goes doegy i think its they way it is

It does happen with the larger TVs. You can make the screen to where it is at a normal viewing size for the other channels, and it will make it clearer; however, the sides of the screen with be greyed out on all of the non-HD stations.

Their is definitely a difference between the channels but it shouldn't look stretched. The cable box should be set to automatically detect what type of channel is on and change it's settings. HDTV channels should be shown in 1080i and regular channels in 480i. The numbers show up on the display of my cable box. Check to see if yours is programmed properly.

Yes it is normal, don't worry, it's kinda funny that they look better on your old TV isn't? Personally I think is part of the HD gimmick- to make old channels look worse. My HD TV is 34 inch and the samething happens.
