I'm a nurse and yes it should have. Now my question for you is, are you having the same symptoms or has it gotten worse? If so then ask for another medication, it's not helping you. Just so you know if you have always taken this medication for similar problems, your body has build up an resistance to the drug. The doctor should always change medications so you can get the desired results, being cured. I hope this information was useful, take care.

It usually takes 48-72 hours for antibiotics to kick in. The lymph node under the arm is probably not related to the UTI, and the cephalexin will take care of that, too. If your symptoms aren't improving after 72 hours, call the dr. At that point, he should have your urine culture back and know if the antibiotic he Rxd for you is going to be effective against the bacteria in your urine. The swelling of the lymph node should be reduced/gone by day 5 of antibiotics. If it's getting worse, call the dr. I wouldn't be worried about just 1 lymph node. If all your lymph nodes throughout your entire body are swollen, call the dr.

Cephalexin may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. Take with food or milk to minimize these effects. If they persist or become severe, inform your doctor. Unlikely to occur but report: fever; easy bleeding or bruising; a change in the amount of urine. Notify your doctor immediately if an allergic reaction occurs while taking Cephalexin. Symptoms include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
