I've made a mistake by making a shortcut in Windows open with another program like Notepad, and now everytime I open a shortcut, Notepad appears, and so none of the shortcuts work. I've tried to click "Open With ..." then "look for the appropriate program on the Web" but I couldn't solve it!

But the problem is that I don't know what is the program that shortcuts work on, I mean what's the name of the program that runs .lnk files?

The problem is that I don't know what's the name of the program that Windows shortcuts run on, or .lnk files run on.

if you made them into icons, you should right click and delete the one you don't use as much.
don't worry, you can still get acess to them. just not from shortcuts.

Assuming that you're using Windows XP. Try simply doing a system restore. Through the accessories/system tools on your start menu button. Back the computer up to say like a day or two before you made your mistake. That should correct the problem. Hope it helps.

My original solution cannot solve the problem you need to edit the registry. Here is a quick fix file.

FYI (not the solution to this problem but good to know):
You can edit what the main default programs are used to open files here...
Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types

try open with.. then select the other choice (the one that allows you to choose a program from your pc) if that doesn't work then try filext.com then search for the extension of the program, download the proper application then use open with option again (and again using the other choice, the n using the application that you downloaded).
