I hate it, when all of the answers are answered by non-profetionals in the dog buisness. I breed dogs, and am a dog psycologist, and i asked the question "How do i prevent barking without a shock collar?"
I got plenty answers, and was amazed hoiw quickly they came in. But was bitterly disapointed to find my first answer was "Kill the beast..." I was horrified, and at least 50% of the rest were just a fullstop. Gaming for points probably. But i also did some reaserch, and found that my few 'OK' answers were answerd by people who don't even own a dog! How can i do something about this, and has anyone got other examples or would like to join me in a fight against them? If so, leave your e-mail, i'd love to get in touch...

People are weird.

I didn't see your other question, but wanted to take this opportunity to answer it. Citronella collars. Most dogs hate the smell. Emphasis on "most"

I understand canine behaviour from the point of view of a long term owner and ex breeder, and I've spent years studying to improve my own skills, but would not call myself a dog psychologist.
Neither would I come on this open public site to try to improve my knowledge.
Anyone can call thenselves an animal behaviourist or psychologist because ther are no minimum legal standards. Anyone can come on here and call themselves anything they want. And anyone can answer any Q on this site.

A member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors has to have a degree in psychology, then serve a two year apprenticeship with a practising therapist. They only work on referral from a vet, because you can't train out pain, injury or disease.

This is not the right place to learn training or behavioural training, the standard of answers is not monitored.
Contact the APBC and try their range of literature, also look for any books by John Fisher, Peter Neville, Bruce Fogle, Mike Fox, Kay White and other reputable experts.

As this is an open forum, it is something that we have to put up with. I agree that the answers to legitimate questions run the gamut from plain stupid to extremely helpful. There are times when I will see the same answer, that I would have given, and then don't bother answering. To try and fight against the type of people that you describe would be tantamount to beating ones head against a brick wall, and to no avail. I can only hope that knowing that there are others out here that agree with you helps.

I was just wondering if you were a dog psycologist, I am not sure what that is I need to look that up..Oh ok you are a dog Psychologist.. well anyway I was thinking that why on earth would you be asking question in yahoo answer.. Just my way of thinking

let me add this for someone who says they are a Psychologist and misspelled it shouldn't be calling other people stupid idiots.. Isn't that calling the kennel black.

As a dog "psycologist", I'm surprised that you asked a question on what is obviously not a specialist dog board and expected sensible answers! There are serious questions on here and if you think you can help with serious answers, answer them & ignore the idiots. If you want a serious answer to one of your questions, go to a board where there are knowledgeable owners and breeders like Champ Dogs or breed specialist boards like the Lab or GSD forums or Obedience & Agility forums -there are plenty of them around.

unfortunately many questions are asked for a bit of fun and are answered accordingly so when a serious question is asked you still have the fun followers answering.it can be annoying but the sensible answers make up for them. Also if anyone really wants an answer from a reliable source then there are numerous Internet sites and there is no need to use answers..Answers exists because the answers are so varied and off the mark to be entertaining

They're called trolls! Many of them say things for shock value, they're young bored kids who need their parent's attention and supervision but don't get it so they come onto the internet and try to cause as much of a stir as they can to get the attention they're lacking and so badly crave.

It's not only answerers who do it, there are some who ask questions as well. The best thing you can do is ignore the bad behaviour, like with a dog, they give up eventually. Any attention whether positive or negative is attention.

Well just as you are frustrated so are some of us who really do know our stuff. I can say anything doesn't necessarily mean I am who I say I am. Just as I really don't know you are who you say you are. I would like to think that some people here are really who they say they are but I'm finding more and more that when I see a specific little reference listed than I know they are just some kid bored and is fooling around.
It will never seas to amaze me! I know who I am and I have gotten to know some of the folks here and quite frankly they are who they say they are and are very knowledgeable about what they say. So in closing I'd just like to say Welcome to Yahoo answers!

Most pet professionals are not spending their time on Yahoo Answers. The point is that you're getting answers from real people. If you want better answers ask other people in the pet business for their opinions.

I totally agree with you. I once asked a question about my diabetic dog and I got abuse from one person for being stupid by spending so much money on my dog's treatment when there are children dying in africa. My dog is my concern and not children in africa. If people don't have anything nice to say then they shouldn't say anything at all.
