I want to take a scanned photo of a person, and easily elimate the background, and take only the image of teh person and use it in another picture. The "laso tool" found in most programs is VERY hard to master. Can anyone direct me to a better program?

Unfortunately, doing this kind of thing really does take a lot of practice and skills and time to perfect.

Corel Paintshop Pro has some tools that make it easier, like "background eraser" ... it's still a time consuming task, one that needs to be done carefully on a high zoom.

I have found it easier, whether using a lasso tool or any other tool, to focus on getting rid of the background, rather than trying to cut out the image of the person. Seems to give a cleaner edge.

Just FYI, the below are some free programs you might try ....

In Photoshop you can use Quick Mask mode, where you can paint on an overlay with the drawing tools to define a selection. That makes it simple to close-crop; you either colour in the areas you want to keep, or the areas you want to remove. Since it doesn't need to be done all in one mouse motion like the lasso tool, it's much easier to accomplish.

Uh, well, if you can't draw, it's hard to do this,

because like you said about the lasso,

you probably not get the results you want

no matter what you use. I could be wrong

though. Happens around Christmas.

Well it's very hard to do acurately without training unless the background is like white or grey. If you want you can send it to me at alllowercasenospaces999@ hotmail.com (remove space) and I'll do it, and send it back - but if you want to learn to do it yourself you're going to need Adobe Photoshop and about a week to learn about image channels.

Hope that helps,
