It has been my experience that it doesn't matter what you do with them, as long as you are doing something with them. The important thing is to spend time, show them you care about them and are interested in them. Sports are good, but , so is watching a movie, playing video games, teaching them how to change the oil on the car, and just about everything else. Stay involved in your kids life, and you can be assured that they will grow up respecting you, trusting you and loving you.

Just doing things or being with them is enough. Help them with their homework, teach them how to throw a baseball, football or raquetball is good too. Gee, there's a lot of things that don't take much effort at all to be a dad.

Boys are rough and love adventure. Take them to a adventure park such as Six Flags where they love to get the SXXX scared out of them!

Buy two Guitar Heros and at night, all of you play guitar hero...you'll all have a blast and they'll think you're pretty cool. During the day, go hiking somewhere or geocaching.

laser tag, batting cages, go carts, any sports game
Take them to union station- any big city has one and usually has a neat display of the old train system as well as shopping and places to eat.

Take 'em to some sporting events.

If you want some peace and quiet, just give them some dirty magazines. Should keep em entertained for a few hours...

If he is a preteen it is not healthy to go weight training. You could go camping, basketball, bowling, bike ride, and um go get haircuts together
