Sometimes I see people who have lost 50 pounds and I see huge rolls of skin that probably will only resolve with surgery. Other people look good. What is the difference? Is it only age?

incorect the reason you see people on shows like biggest loser have huge rolls and extra skin is simply because they lost to much weight at a time. Your body cant cope with weight drops around 6 or 7 kgs a week it needs time to improve the skin and shape. A healthy weight loss is 2-3kg a week at most. Anymore is putting you at risk of the sympton you just described.

It really is up to your skin type. Some people have taught skin that snaps back, especially young people. If you have naturally stretchy skin then even after you have had a baby, your tummy will still remain saggy. Finally if you have stretched your skin beyond it's natural flexibility then no amount of exercise will get your tummy tight.

I think it's HOW the person lost the weight. Weight loss surgery seems to produce the loose skin while diet/exercise doesn't. It might be because after WLS you are severely limited in your food and water intake.
