OK: my stepsons laptop that we bought him is having issues, so we swapped with my hubby's very expensive/nice one and while stepson (16) was at home, his mother, in a fit of irritation over something, slammed the top down, caught the cord inside which punctured and damaged the LCD screen. Normally we would just chalk this up to another 'thing' but I was curious if any of you would ask for her to help pay for repairs? We have had a decent relationship with her for the past 10 years of our marriage, don't think asking for her to help pay would ruin it....(p.s. I am very irritated, but in the past I've learned that expressing that gets me no where! LOL)

Ex's are a real pain in the backside. I think it's very difficult to know whether they are genuine or not. Sometimes I get the feeling they do things on purpose but claim it was an accident so they can get away with it.

I would ask her to chip in as it was her who broke it. If she was that nice a person she would have offered to pay for it to be repaired but obviously she hasn't.

I would sit down and talk to her and explain to her that you feel that she should pay for the repairs since she let her temper get the best of her and she was the one that broke it. The worst she can do is get angry and say she's not going to. It sounds like she needs to respect other people's things!!
Good luck!

Have the stepson who had it ask her to fix it...if he is old enough and works he should pay to fix it if she won't and if he isn't working then I guess you have to...if the cost is alot you might just want to get your honey a new one and give the broken one to your step son....and you use the broken one..I would not deal with her.......

Keep the things away from her. make your things and costly things locked up. Stop spoiling the kids and first they are not your kids so just watch out by being too giving in the bargain. Lock lock lock

I'd be telling her, "You broke it, you pay for it." If the son starts in about it, I'd redirect him to his mother and tell him to take this up with her.
