Female pilots serve proudly, and with distinction, in the United States Armed Forces. I understand that many are assigned to fly helicopters, and transport aircraft. Tonight I watched a television doctumentary that included interviews with several female pilots that flew the A-10 (Warthog) assault aircraft. What other "combat" aircraft do female pilots fly?

PS: "Thank You" for your service and sacrifice to our country.

Snowwebster2: I was a Viet-Nam veteran, and I certainly am not casting dispersions on ANY member of the military male or female. Since the military does not usually put female members in combat situations I found the interview of female pilots flying combat aircraft on combat missions courious. You also forgot to mention the 59 female civilian government employees who also died in Viet-Nam.

There are two females on the Thunderbirds now and of course, they have some years of flying behind them.I also remember at least two female F-15 pilots at the one base I worked at overseas (ten years ago.. probably many more now) I believe they were the first female F-15 pilots at that time.

I'm guessing, you'll find a female flying just about anything?

I do know that at the time I was serving in the Marine Corps, my squadron had one female aviator (flew backseat in EA-6B Prowlers) and, during a 6 week deployment to Yuma, AZ, there were two female aviators with the F/A-18's there from around the Marines.

I was a 'line rat' with two F-14 tomcat (USN) squadrons and many of the pilots were women.

1. Did you know that of the 58,000 American dead in Vietnam, 8 were female.

2. Did you know that of the over 3200 dead in the Iraqi war that 72 were female.

Although these 80 dead females probably served with distinction, so did the other 61000 males.

Please, don't single out a sex, or race for the type stuff or you'll find over 95% of casualites in our wars are white Christians.

What is your point?
