See if you can get hold of some of the books and essays of
the Late Stephen Jay Gould, a lot of it is on the history of
science,evolution and some really unexpected ones to
explain certain scientific procedures. and ideas.
The man was a professor and a great storyteller,so you won't
be bullshitting your audience.
Also he will give references so you can gather your background materials to make things more interesting.
