Power of attorney does not mean that anyone can tell you what to put on your car. Now if it is not your car, then you have problems. That power of attorney means they are in control of your finances, how you spend your money. They can influence your decisions, but not control them. Why would your mother in law have power of attorney, no one in their right mind would do that.
