Actually, not only is there secular evidence that suggests that there was a Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified, but His REAL tomb is thought to have been found. Early Christians used to gather at a spot outside Jerusalem every year. They had been told that that was where Jesus had been buried. When Hadrian, who hated Christians and heavily persecuted them, became Roman emperor in the early second century, he built a pagan temple over the site, in hopes that Christians would stop gathering there. Two hundred years later, Constantine's mother Helena went to the site, and built a church over it.
Fast forward about sixteen hundred years, when archaeologists went to the site. After excavating the area, they found remnants of a fourth century church. Underneath that was a second century pagan temple. Under that was an EMPTY grave.
They think it was Jesus's grave because of how it had been described in the Bible. The grave, which had belonged to Joseph of Arimathea, had been cut out from the rock.

Let's not forget that when Jesus was arrested, His disciples scattered. They were afraid. They didn't want to be anywhere NEAR Jesus. Not too much later, that changed. Suddenly they were willing to die preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. What changed their minds? It had to be something HUGE.
Some people say that Jesus's body might have been moved. By whom? And why? If Jesus was TRULY dead, then He was just a man, and everything He had said was a lie.
Not only that, but the idea of someone moving His body is preposterous. Think about it: His tomb was sealed with a large stone, and guarded by Roman soldiers. So what a person who insists that His body was moved is suggesting is that SOMEONE moved this heavy stone, overpowered the Roman guard, and moved a dead body (which after three days would REALLY start to smell, and would be heavy and stiff). Is that likely?
Or maybe the Roman guard fell asleep. Maybe that's it. Sure. Never mind the fact that they would have been killed cruelly for falling asleep on the job. Never mind the fact that there were probably at least six on duty, and they probably watched the tomb in shifts.
All of these "theories" about Jesus have been going around for centuries. One would THINK that after two thousand years, someone would realize that obviously these "theories" must be LIES.
HUNDREDS of people became Christians after they saw Jesus. THAT is why Christianity spread so fast. Otherwise, Jesus would have been forgotten as a dead crazy guy.
And no, Hollywood has NOT found Jesus's tomb. The James Cameron documentary is nothing new. It came out over ten years ago, and was proven false then. Now Cameron is cashing in on peoples' ignorance.

Simply put, Jesus was a common name in those days. Second, so was Miriam. Third, so was Judah, Judas, James, Joseph and all variations of those names. Not only that, if indeed Jesus was buried with family, then he would not have been buried in Jerusalem. I'm not a Christian but I don't consider myself an atheist. It's just illogical to think that they've found the tomb of Jesus and his family.
Of course, some people claim he didn't die at all.
And still others say he rose in bodily form and ascended into heaven.
Even if we did find what we thought to be the tomb of Jesus, what evidence do we have with which to compare any remains?

Christianity is not a cult, We are bible believing followers. Jesus walked on this earth 2000 years ago, It would take time to find a grave or tomb if it is still there. Alot people roamed this earth since that time. I beliebve what the Bible says...it was God breathed. We may not understand it all but it will be clear when he comes again.

No, and no credible archaeologist will tell you it has been. They've been studying the site for almost 20 years, I think they know more than a film director does.
If you've heard Jesus died on the cross, you'll also have heard that He was resurrected and is alive now at the right hand of God. His tomb is not only empty, it's irrelevant.

The point is that He ROSE FROM THE DEAD! If He did not then our faith is garbage. For it was in His sacrificial death that our sins are forgiven and it is in His rising from the dead that we KNOW His sacrifice worked!
Get a grip people. Without a RISEN Christ you got bupkus!
