OMG! I such a woose when it comes to needles and those suckers are big. AND I KNOW b/c i have had two kids.

The first i had to get it in the hand. That hurt like hell going in but after they took it out it just bruised up really bad for a long time and was sore to the touch.

The second one i had was in my arm. They couldnt get to a vein in my hand. Well, that one didnt hurt so bad going in but when they took it out it REALLY hurt and it hurt to the touch and when i bent and moved my arm. HURT ALL THE TIME. Plus, i have a scar from it.

So, going by this, even though the hand one hurt really bad going in but not coming out, it didnt hurt afterwards. It just bruised up really bad.

I would have to say i would rather get the one in the hand. But if i really had a choice i would NEVER get one again.

Ooo - the arm joint is too fiddley and would be uncomfortable for patients especially when trying to sleep at night. At least with the hand you can tape the line with tape so it doesn't catch. i think its easier access as well for nurses to get to. However, with everything there are pros and cons.

the arm, the hand is way more sensative and you do more things with it.
