I was just wondering if I have to have any special requirements besides being 18 and taking courses in cross contamination and other courses in sterile techniques.

A lot of tattoo studios don't like to hire in. They have to pay a lot for workman's comp, taxes, etc. and would rather just have artists come in as independent contractors and let apprentices do all the grunt work. (We don't particularly agree with using apprentices for slave labor.)

Studios that do hire generally want that person to be able to work the front reception area, do preliminary paperwork for clients, help make stencils, answer phones, keep the area clean, and take care of the dirty room/clean room, order supplies and stock areas as needed.

You would likely handle used tubes, clean them, package them for sterilization and process them accordingly. You seem to know this though because of the classes you mentioned. Good luck with that, this is the time of year studios get busy so you would be most likely able to find something.

Set your goals higher... haha. My niece works in a tattoo shop. She got a foot in the door by getting to know the people who worked there and they helped her out.

While you deal with some cool people, you get lots of scumbags as well. She is still deciding if its worth it.

Well, you should be able to give a tattoo. Practice on orange skins before you practice on people. Being an artist helps too.
