Yes I have found money many times, most of the time was a 10, 20 occasionally a 100 dollar bill, once even found a lunch bag with over 20 grand in 50's and 100's .. figuring the 20 grand was drug money or something of the sort .. called police.. they took it and said if no one claimed it within 90 days it was mine.. they gave me a receipt .. figured I'd never see that money again lol.. but after 90 days no one claimed it .. I picked it up.. gave 50% to charity and spent the rest on bills. But generally If I just find cash lying on the ground I fig snooze ya loose.

Some twenty years ago---getting into my car in the parking lot of a grocery store in a city on the East Coast (USA) -- I looked down and saw a roll of bills (wound quite tightly) on the pavement !! Picked it up-- got into my car-- undid the roll-- and was stunned to count out a little over $ 700 !! Believe me, at the time, I was not in the best shape for ready cash !!
Sit and wrestled with the prospects of it all--- and got to thinking that it could easily be the only money some person had in the world ---and-- so--- I went into the grocery store and confronted the manager--- told them that I had found "some money" and gave them my phone number and name-- in case anyone made inquiry with THEM
I took the cash--- put it into my savings account and watched the notices in the local paper for over a week---waited on the call (I had told the store manager that whoever called would have to describe how much and in what manner the cash was found) ----- and--- the call never came---- about ten days afterwards----- I had a superb party--- paid a couple of bills ahead--- and felt like I had "won the lottery" !!!!

I've found cash on many occasions, the largest "find" was over $4,000! I worked at a hospital at the time, and a recently discharged patient left it behind (along with a Rolex and several expensive looking rings!).
I turned it all in, every dime accounted for and all jewelery intact! I'll never forget the look on that man's face when he got his stuff back! The money was his separation pay and pay for accumulated leave from the military, and the jewelery was left to him in a will.
I suppose I could have easily taken the cash and jewelery ... but I was content with a small reward, I have no regrets! The look on that man's face was priceless!

I found 19,000.00 on duty one night. All cash and in small bills. I was alone and before the age of video cameras every 10 feet. I was also new on the job and busting butt in every extra job I could get to make ends meet. I turned it in to our property room. Procedure at the time was I could not get it but if it went unclaimed for 6 months I could designate the charity it went to. I ended up handing the Children's Shelter a check 6 months later.

I had a person come to me with a wallet one time that had been left on her bus. she said that she hadn't looked to see what was in the wallet and left it with me walking away. I opened the wallet to get ID and found just over $6,000.00 in the wallet. I knew the owner and took it to him. I did not find this wallet but, thanks to an honest bus driver this man was able to travel to his home to spend the holidays with his family. This happened on a military base in Afghanistan.
There have been several times in my life that I have found various amounts of money. When I was young, I thought nothing of taking the money and keeping it. One day I had just cashed a paycheck from a job that I had worked hard for. I had a baseball game that night and had left my wallet in the dugout with $439.00 in it. At the end of the game, I found my wallet in the trash minus cash. After drying the tears from the loss of such a high amount of money, I realized that almost everyone who loses money this way is in the shoes I wore that night. since then, I have always looked at things from that prospective and tried to get the found money to it's rightful owner.

I found 500 dollars in cash next to a copy machine one time. I, being nice and all, returned it to the person I saw drop it. She then gave me a 100 bucks for helping her out.
I felt really good that day for doing that!!!!

I found a dollar on the sidewalk, yesterday. Looked around nobody looked like they might have dropped it. Put it in my pocket.
