Use treats he loves like chunks of cheddar cheese. Tell him to sit and then force him to sit and reward him. Keep repeating sit. Then do stay and walk a bit away and reward him for staying. then when he is doing those things tell him to come just a little away and reward him for coming. After a while you should be able to leave to another room with him staying. Then teach him in the same way to lie down on a mat in the corner of a room where you are say, stay and reward him for staying. Keep this until he gets the idea that he is rewarded for staying. Keep the treats coming and praise. In time he will do these without rewards. I have a 6 mos old retriever puppy hyper and stubborn who is now fully trained. I use a squirt gun in the eyes to stop him from jumping up on people and biting and barking excessively.

Maybe your local vo-tech has obedience classes. That is a good start coz it lets the dog be around others and learn by example. Also, it will help you to see how the other dogs learn.

Never let him chew on flesh. When he tries that, always have a rope toy to play with him. Let him play tug of war with you, but say no bite if he goes for your hand.

Always keep biscuits around to treat him for good behavior. Puppys are learning and are naturally chewers. Teach him his boundaries by your guidance and tone of voice. Never never hit him.

They have toys that squeak that are popular. Also, American made raw hides are long lasting chew toys that will last a long time.

Make him a box of his toys where he can get them out. And
love him a lot and he will love you.

Happy years with your new friend!!!
