Can anyone tell me why when I'm on my computer that my cat has to sit right in front of my screen?

It's quite simple actually. Your cat is jealous because you are doing something besides paying attention to him/her. I have one cat the currently does the same this. He wants me to pet him and to stop typing, reading or whatever. After all you do not own your cat, he/she owns you and therefor they feel completely justified when getting in the way of anything you are doing. To stop this, if you wish, you need to tell your cat "No" , put him/her on the floor and repeat this process until he/she decides it's easier to just not do it. Good Luck!

My cat Taboo used to do this too, yet shes old now and cant leap up on the table anymore. yet she does do a number of the different issues suggested on your different solutions like lay on a e book, mag, or mail i'm interpreting. i think of what it particularly is they only must be up in the thick of issues. Mine does it because I'm not giving her enough attention according to her. Sometimes she'll just sit there and look at me as if to say 'you don't want to see what's on that silly computer screen anyway - I'm much more interesting!" Because cats are attention whores. Try drawing a face on a piece of paper and tape it to the back of your chair (or head). Put the cat behind you and it will think you are looking at it non stop. It will be content and fall asleep (or shine sunlight on it and it will collapse and begin snoring).

Cat's do that to everything, if your reading the newspaper and put it down for a second, they sit on it. I think they try to get our attention constantly, and think they own the place. Dogs have owners, cats have slaves

Who knows why cats do what they do...they feel they have the right to do whatever they want to, and it is way too funny the look you get from them when they're not allowed to do something...like sit in front of your monitor when you're trying to do something.....we all know that we are only here to be slaves for them...they own us...and we know it...LOL...but they also know that we love them anyway.....
