It's 500/ 5. If that means anything. And if has the digits #349 on them. What does this translate too?

Lortab 10/500 is twice the amount of Vicodin 5 but it is NOT 1000 it is 10. Lortab and Vicodin are just brand names. They both contain hydrocodone which is a pain medicine. They each have 50 mg of tylenol. The problem with taking more pills is that you are increasing your tylenol intake. Too much tylenol has been shown to cause serious liver problems. You can get Lortab or Vicodin with higher amounts of hydrocodone and lower amounts of tylenol. I have taken Lortab 10/325 which has 10 mg of hydrocodone but only 325 mg of tylenol.

I have also had Percocet before. The active ingredient in it is Oxycodone. Stronger and different in chemical makeup than hydrocodone.

Talk to you doctor and see if he will change the dosage. Again, you can take more than one but may run into trouble with the extra tylenol.

Try the web page drugs.com. They have lots of info including a pill identifier that if you drop in the number off a pill it will tell you what it is!!!

Consider yourself lucky that you've got a doctor that will give them to you. Some people can go into a docs office slumped over in pain and they won't do anything to help you, just because they can't see anything wrong right them. Oxycodone (Tylox, Percocet, Percodan, Oxycontin) is about 3 to 4 times for powerful than hydrocodone (Lorcet, Vicodin, Lortab) you could just simply need an increase in ur medicine from a 5 to a 7.5 or even a 10...after those fail, they will more than likely give you percocets

Vicodin side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Vicodin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
In rare cases, acetaminophen may cause a severe skin reaction that can be fatal. This could occur even if you have taken acetaminophen in the past and had no reaction. Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away if you have skin redness or a rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling. If you have this type of reaction, you should never again take any medicine that contains acetaminophen.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- shallow breathing, slow heartbeat;
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
- confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior;
- seizure (convulsions);
- easy bruising or bleeding; or
- nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Common Vicodin side effects include:
- drowsiness;
- upset stomach, constipation;
- headache;
- blurred vision; or
- dry mouth.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Each VICODIN tablet contains:

Hydrocodone Bitartrate 5 mg
Acetaminophen 500 mg
and the number 349 Identifies that its a vicodin.

It may mean that your body is use to that dosage and you may need an increase.

I would however suggest you see the doctor who prescribed these to you they can be addictive.

What works for one may not work for another. Hydrocodone (vicadin) always worked better for me than oxycodone (percocet) but many people find the opposite. It seems like it should be okay for you to take two but always check. You should not stay on them any longer than you have to. I have a very serious spine condition and have been and will be on narcotics for life. I'd give anything for the day back when vicodin and percs and the like relieved my pain. Do not heed the advice of the above person who describes her dose of hydrocodone to be 1000 mg. It is not. It is 10mg hydrocodone and 500 tyleno and yours is 5mg hydrocodone. 1000mg would kill you and they are not made.I've been on these meds for 30 years and know a bit about them. Good Luck with your pain.Hopefully soon you will no longer have a need for pain meds.

That is the weakest vicodin, low man on the totem pole!!!!!!!!!!! I take Lortab which is 10/500 which means 1,000 vicodin (twice what u are taking) and 500mg of tylenol. You probably need to ask your doc for a higher dose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK

i hate how people come on here yelling about pills and addiction. MAN ITS OLD !!!!

anyways yeah vic 5mg are considered weak. if iwere you, take 2 or 3 at the very most.. you should have relief.

i take percocet, which is the same family but higher dose. Vics DO NOT work for me. Never have. Some people they dont work.

So yup, you got crappy pills, but hey! its better than tylenol 3
and really "Lortab" is not much better.

Vicodin doesn't have an effect on me either... you're probably highly tolerant to pain killers. I've had some bad times due to this... :(

That sounds like a normal dosage. Consider too that if you take it too frequently, the medication can lose it's effect.
