dont start smoking ..!!!!! yep everyone else has said it but theres a reason behind it!!!!!
1.u will stink of smoke
2.people wont want to be around u
3.its even more harmful to passive smoke than actually smoke, which means ur harming the people around u more than ur harming yourself
4.do u want your leg amputated? or worse ? dying ?
5. your teeth and nails will rot
6. it kills u inside
7.although it may help u with stress u shouldnt depend on it, its not good in the long run
if u need tips to stop being stressed-
1.go for a walk, if will help u calm down
2.do something u enjoy, like watching a movie
3.tackle the issue ur dealing with head on, get it over and done with and dont put it off, it just makes u even more crazy
4.spend time with people u love that make u smile
5.try meditation or yoga
6.start doing a sport,eg tennnis swimming etc,there are HEAPS just enroll and try it out, u'll have fun , get fit and if ur friends are doing a sport join in, it will be even more fun with them
7.organize outings with friends etc
8. live life to the full
9.dont give up
10.do something to take your mind off it, like reading , or get creative and make something for someone

Alright, you already know you're not supposed to smoke. It'll either kill you or you'll end up missing a lung, being on oxygen for the rest of your life, or having a hole put in your neck. Tobbacco doesn't always kill you but there are worse things than dying.
Now you mentioned chewing gum. Sounds like a good idea. I've always liked Orbit or Trident. Partial to their citrus flavors.
If you meant Nicotine Gum don't even think about it! It's just as addictive if not more addictive than ciggarrettes.
If you need a stress reliever try eating a piece of dark chocolate every once in awhile. Chocolate releases pleasure chemicals in your brain. I suggested dark chocolate because it has less sugar and is supposed to be "heart healthy" compared to other chocolates.
Another thing that releases pleasure/relaxing chemicals in your brain is: sex. However I recommend that if you're going to try sex as a stress reliever, that you be an adult and in a loving relationship.
If you're not either of these sex will only add to your stress!!!

First off, congratulations on deciding to make an informed choice as an adult; while smoking certainly isn't good for anybody, as responsible intelligent people, we have the right to make our own decisions about our health and enjoyment. I myself didn't start smoking until I was 23, and it's been a choice I've been happy with since.
I'm presuming that when you say you want to start smoking, you're considering smoking cigarettes. Personally, I would consel against that. While cigarettes are by far the most easily available form of smoking, they are far from the most satisfying. In addition, they are very expensive, bad for the environment (those filters are pure evil at an environmental level), and full of chemicals.
I'm a pipe smoker myself. Now I know you might be thinking that a pipe would look silly or antiquated, but I'd urge you to go to a proper tobacconist and try a few on for size. The modern pipe comes in a varity of styles (and colours!) and there's one to suit everybody. Pipe tobacco is much tastier than cigarettes, as well as being cheaper and better for the environment (you don't throw out a pipe, so you're not wasting paper, nor do they have those awful filters). In addition, pipe tobacco isn't processed nearly as much as is cigarette tobacco, so there arn't as many harmful chemicals.
That is not to say that it's good for you - it isn't. It's just less bad. Also, you don't inhale a pipe, so you don't need to worry about things like lung cancer. The only major drawback to pipes instead of cigarettes is that you can't buy pipe tobacco everywhere. That's okay though, you just need to find a few good places, and you're set.
In terms of brands, I'd highly recommend the Amphora label. It's one of the more common brands (easier to find) and it tastes great. They have a few varieties, ranging from light to heavy, as well as some aromitised flavours (Cherry or Malt Whiskey being my two favourites).
If you havn't decided to start smoking yet, then think about it for a while; it's a big decision with lots of consequences both ways. If you have decided that it's for you, then enjoy the smoke!

Listen to what everyone here is saying.i used to smoke.i have been off them since last year and havent felt as good in quiet sometime.i fell into the whole peer pressure thing as a lot of people do.dont give in to it.i find it hard to understand why people think its cool to start smoking.you are perfectly aware that its not good for your health.i would say to not start smoking.not the answer you were looking for but there you go.and all these people above me think so aswell.be the strong one and say no.youll only be kicking yourself years down the line.youre paying for the deterioration of your health.its mad when you think about it.all these people arent saying to not do for no good reason.at least think it through before you do anything.take care
EDIT- if you want a stress reliever smoking isnt it.it will make you feel better for a short while but will make you feel anxious after awhile and that anxiety wont go away without another fix.its not worth it.you could try chewing gun and see how that goes for you but best thing for stress is exercise.good luck

Oh, and while do you wish lung melanoma and demise? Because bet what, the ones are what comes subsequent if you begin smoking. Why on the planet might you wish to waste a minimum of $one hundred each and every week on ciggarettes that do NOTHING well for you? Have you misplaced your brain? Here is the quality piece of recommendation any one right here will inform you....DON'T DO IT!

OK, first of all. smoking is not the best choice for a stress reliever. i started smoking 8 years ago. and its hard to quit! its a mental & physical dependacy.. Please dont start smoking unless you have realized how bad it is. get a stress ball or work out. i recommend both of those... working out relieves stress & tension.

Don't start smoking. Not just because of your health, but for the people around you. Even if your friends smoke. It makes your clothes and hair smell bad and turns your teeth yellow. Not including what you house smells like.

That is an exceedingly pathetic question. There is no impetus to smoke besides trying to look cool, and trust me, I, among the majority of individuals, are going to be turned off by you or any other female smoking... it's repulsive. Don't smoke Camels. Try Kool menthols, they taste and smell the best, which is to say, they're the least disgusting.

Ok I know I'm not the only one to say this but DON'T DO IT!!!!! It's like licking an ashtray when kissing. I was dating this wonderful guy and one day he started smoking. I told myself that I wasn't going to break up with him for one bad habit, Lord knows I have them. Then my friends said I smelled like smoke and we basically stopped kissing. Please think of something else to start.

If you gotta smoke try twisting your own with a little homegrown. It wont kill you nearly as quick as the government sponsored brands! and it's a lot better buzz!
