I've had the same problem. What I did was drink 3-4 glass of 16oz of carnation instant breakfast with whole milk everyday. Plus, I do weight training at home. I do excerises that build muscle like lunges, squats, putting 10lbs ankle weights on and laying flat on your back hold one leg up at a time and write your ABCs in the air with your foot and leg, bicep curls with dumbbells and other arm and chest excerises. I do push ups every morning and I do 100 calf raises every other day. Muscle gain is important because its how you keep the weight on. If you gain nothing but fat not only is it unhealthy but its easy for skinny minnies like us to lose it. Plus its not that attractive if there is no muscle to shape the fat. In order to gain muscle effectively, after your workout (3-4 days a week) its important to feed your muscles so they will grow so you have about 20-45mins after the workout to feed them. So eat a big dinner or lunch or drink your instant breakfast afterwards. I drink a weight gainer called N Large II after my workout. I just started that but so far its been easy for me to drink since some weight gainers are very nasty. Diet is important too. Eat lots of chicken and fish, 100% natural peanut butter, eggs, whole wheat bread, Lots of Pasta and potatoes mangos, bananas, apples. Try to eat aleast one big meal a day on top of the 3-4 glasses of carnation instant breakfast. If you start a weight gainer then you can cut the carnation instant breakfast to 2 glasses a day. You should be gaining 1-2lbs a week more than that is not healthy. Weight yourself every two weeks to keep you motivated. Good luck.

I had this problem several years ago and the doctor had me drinking milkshakes between meals and before bed. Mix a package of Carnation instant breakfast with icecream and whole milk. Drink one midmorning, one mid afternoon and one between dinner and bedtime. If you are working during the day and unable to mix these-use the flavored Ensure or other meal replacement drinks available today. The Ensure is soy based and has 320 calories. Good luck and hope this helps. It will take time to regain but it is possible. Just eat healthy and stay fit as you gain weight.

lucky you...haha, j/k. you know my best friend has a really fast metabolism and it is sssssoooo hard for him to gain weight. but in the last few months he's been able to gain about 40lbs, (granted he's about 6'4" and use to weigh in at about 150.) He said that he has to eat about 3000 calories per day, but being that he isn't a big eater, he does allot of protein shakes for snacks and such. You may want to go to a GNC and inquire about products that can help you gain weight in healthy way that won't be shocking on your system. They do have products that are specific to gender as well.
I hope this helps and you can reach your desired weight.

Listen carefully. Put 1 cup of wholemilk in the blender with 8 scoops of your favourite icecream and then 3 tblspns of protein powder from health food store, oh and add lots of chocolate syrup. Blend and drink! If it's not thick enough, add more icecream. Lucky you!
