Hypnotic regression really is not an approved therapeutic technique and although I am trained in hypnosis (several types) I would never use regressive techniques for a number of reasons: 1) it can often be retraumatizing, 2) memory is fluid and regressive hypnosis can and does result in false memories-not necessarily because a therapist "implants" them either. Memory itself is mutable and changing and memories recalled under hypnosis are often fragmented, distorted and inaccurate. Further, the most well-intentioned therapist can unwittingly "suggest" things merely by asking questions because trance is a very suggestible state.
If you are having difficulty with childhood trauma, I would strongly suggest that you avoid regressive techniques and instead try EMDR. EMDR takes trauma memories and allows you to process them more fully, often changing your interpretation and reaction to events you recall. It often does lead you to other memories that have fed the ones you are working with and they can be reprocessed as well, leading to a healthy resolution of the issues without retraumatizing a person.
Therapist who offer regressive hypnosis, though perhaps well-meaning, are really stepping outside best practice protocols for trauma treatment and may not be aware of the significant advances and techniques available for treatment of trauma. Please reconsider.

not yet, but I am going to try regrssion for childhood truama or past-life regression which can be also a problem in some cases. I recently read a wondeful book about it which I highly recommend but a good hypnotharpist shoulddo all so they get to the root of the problem as we don't know always know where the root of the problem is.
It does work (given you find a good therapist) & it's very rapid & powerful.
If you need help finding a therapist please email me if I can be of any help.I'll let you know (if you don't mind) how it went & the results!

HYPNOTIC REGRESSION can unlock things that should be kept suppressed. If you have suppressed something then it is for a reason.
I know one family that was torn apart because of regression therapy.
THE therapist was guiding the child to remember things that did not happen.
THE MOTHER left her husband and the child was mentally tormented for years following this therapy.
IT IS REALLY ONLY AS GOOD AS THE THERAPIST.

I went through a few sessions last year and remembered some things I wish I hadn't. I kind of always knew those memories were there, but unfortunately those sessions brought them back to the forefront of my mind. And now I have these very vivid visuals that I can't seem to shake. I don't feel it has helped me.

No, I came from an abusive household, I survived because of my sense of humor, I don't want to go back, Forward only, beside's it might unlock my "Mental Problem's", I have mental problems far more powerful than mortal men, for example, If I wanted to, i could cut people in 1/2 with the Laser beams that I can make come out of my eye's, i know it's wrong, i know that you should'nt cut people in half with laser beams that you can shoot through your eyes, so i don't do it, i would'nt want it done to me....... as you can see, this keeps me "SANE" and "IN TOUCH" with what's REAL, and what's NOT REAL !

I started some of this with a trainee therapist counsellor. I think it got a bit intense, because she was an amateur, albeit well-meaning: opening stuff up, without handling it properly -can increase mental anguish. Proceed with care.
