I REALLY need to lose some weight someone told me that i have to eat 5-6 small portion meals a day but i am WAY to busy at work i can only eat 3 meals can i still lose weight this way?

Keep snacks on you to eat while at work in between the three meals.

By making the 3 meals smaller portions and healthy snacks you shouldn't have problems with losing weight but I would recommend double checking with your dr to see what they suggest.

The reason that 5-6 small meals throughout the day is suggested is to keep your metabolism regulated so that you don't get hungry and go without food for hours which can make it hard on the metabolism.

Hi,

Have you tried eating three small meals a day, and then supplementing with 'Meal Replacement Shakes'? Many people are told that eating 5 -6 small meals a day keeps your metabolism high, ie the optimum level for fat burning.

Eating 6 small meals a day can be done, but it can get expensive and time consuming and after a while you may feel that all you ever do is EAT!

You can also lose weight (fat) on 3 or even one meal a day, it has a lot to do with what you eat and also how you combine what you are eating.

Depending on how active you are you should be consuming around 2,000 - 2,500 calories per day - a reduction of about 500 calories a day will see you lose weight.

Remember being consistant is VERY important

Yeah sure, you can.
The reason why they told you to eat 5-6times a day in small portion is because so that the stomach can digest properly. Instead of eating only once or twice in big portion, better will be take it many times in smaller portion. As is big portion the the stomach cannot digest properly, the food will not be processed properly by the enzim. However, in smaller portion the food will get processed by the enzim properly.

and if you want to loose some weight, the key to that is dinner time. For example, do not eat anything after 6p.m. or 8p.m. since the stomach also needs some rest and also at nigth is the time for the body to absorb the protein, not to digest some food.

and in the morning have a good breakfast, as this is important to kick start the metabolism system.

then, have a good lunch... and in the evening have some light snack..

Therefore you will only eat 3 times a day.. :)

Yeah of course you can still lose weight only eating 3 meals. . . 5-6 small meals do work but that technique is not best for everyone! Just eat your 3 meals a day but make sure that they're still small but full of all the nutrients you need, and don't forget to exersize! Good Luck. . .

The reason eating more smaller meals works is because your metabolism is constantly working when you provide it with consistent fuel (chow). Even if you just snack on carrots or fruit or pretzels, that is enough to make your body burn more calories. Keep in mind that your major meals need to be decreased in order to compensate for the extra stuff. I never eat a full meal because I am never that hungry, and I have been the same weight for 20 years, so I swear by this method. Plus, I exercise. You won't see results without including some sort of heart pumping exercise to burn off what you take in.

For loosing weight it is not important that how many times you eat in day but important how much quantity you eat in a day.If you are eating less than your body requirement you will loos weight .
