yes, the pain is the same as a sober person, assuming that we all have a healthy nervous system. the alcohol may change the way the person receives the pain and also change the time frame that the person registers the pain. the results of both test groups will be death, so don't try at home.

If anyone drowns, it is kinda hard to ask them, isn't it? Since alcohol is chemically very close to ether, probably not, hence the term "feeling no pain" is a euphemism for drunk.
