Overall positive! Much less solid particles pollutants in the air. The air will smell nicer too. Less toxins finding their way into the underground water reserves.
From an economical point of view, Brazil's corn derived ethanol is heavily subsidized by the government. India derives its ethanol from molasses, a by-product of cane sugar fabrication. Either way, there will be enough supply to fuel the world when added to clean coal technology, solar and wind power.
The technology is available. We just need the legislative to make alternative energy a priority :)

water Lily,Janitor fish,Coconut and sugar cane can be a good source of bio-diesel as well.
