From hiring out to tapping family members or cohabitants for help, you can turn to other people to ease your burden of chores.

what are TAPPING family members? are they people who sneak away when you ask them to do chores, or what??? aaah, need help, it's for a translation from the english "… for dummies"-books into german and i can't find the right meaning nowhere on the net or my dictionaries...

To tap means to draw upon, i.e. to draw upon family members to help...with the chores.

Edit: Sich stützen auf - according to my Eng - Ger dictionary.
