It's only football. If Scottish people cared a little less about football, then maybe, yes, they could form a cohesive nation working towards a single goal. Instead they like to sit around in the pub 5 days a week, starting fights with people for supporting the wrong team or generally looking 'funny'.
And yes, I do live in Scotland.
