They say prestige is in the good name and reputation of a brand, but with Lexus's top quality, reliabilty, incredible luxury, and high resale value among other its good qualities, isn't it what they are referring to as "prestige"?

Early Lexus's where pretty much a copy of mercedez, only they did some things better technically, but carried it out with less charisma, the newer models have been receiving much more good press because Lexus has finally figured out how to put unique character and soul into their cars. Before they had a stolen identity (merc), now they finally have earned their own.
as far as perceptions are concerned, regular people seem to love lexus's because of their glitzy style, "car" people like myself are finally warming to them though, with their 8 speed transmissions and swoosh-o-matic suspensions, as well as their legendarily low interior noise levels,
look up a brit named "Jeremy Clarkson" and read some of his car reviews, he does a excelent job explain what im trying to get at

Yes it is. Those who say that Lexus aren't prestigious are those who hate Lexus for it's major success that their favorite brands haven't been able to achieve in their several decades of selling cars. For example; Mercedes, BMW, and Audi haven't sold as many cars as Lexus per year and they've been around for fifty or more years when Lexus has only been around for less than twenty. They feel threatened that a new comer to the luxury market can gain so much respect and success in such a short time when it took their favorite car brand several decades.

prestige is importance based on the past reputation and achievements...You are only going to hear what Lexus advertises..If you would like to see that every auto including Lexus has its downfalls...using your search..type in lexus problems..and read what people have complained about,...
