Even if he did't get it new, you still owe him!! Do you think you can just go around ruining other people's stuff!! So, get him a used one then, but at least replace what you wrecked!!

you are responsible for your actions. nobody ever said that new had to be shiney out of the box new but it best be in like-condition. go on-line to ebay and find a good price on a laptop which will still have the warranty or purchase from a reputable laptop reseller to replace the damaged items in which you caused damage. it also would not be a bad-idea to get him a laptop which is going to be 500 mhz - 1ghz faster than the one in which he has since the cost will be approximately the same as his would have been. (don't be a cheapskate if you want to keep him as a friend)

You act like a 3 year old and feel just as responsible. If your friend took this into consideration he may lower his expections,
If you play with a rattle snake one would expect to get bit.
Your friend is holding you accountable for actions you are not capable of controlling or owning up to.Maybe when you get to be a real man you will fill responsible

But it was his! You sound like a baby throwing a tantrum. Replace it or lose a friend. You are only allowed to break your own things.

You are a bit of an idiot. Go get him another. It does not have to be new. Then leave him alone. You are no friend.

It would be fair if you replaced it with one of equal or greater value, preferably one of greater value, because he has to wait for a replacement.

Because you DO. if you brake it you buy it.

How would you like it if your friend wen around braking your things and wouldn't pay for it.

That is actually illegal to do you know. (brake someones property and not take responsibility)
