Hello everyone,

Today is my 21st birthday and I'm hoping to make a tiramisu cake today. Unfortunately, I didn't make plans to purchase any mascarapone cheese and so I am a left without any reservations.

So, what's a good substitute for mascarapone cheese? I've visited several sites, and found that one site in particular gives some good recipes; http://www.heavenlytiramisu.com/mascarpo.htm .

Has anyone successfully used cream cheese as a mascarapone substitute? Please help, my birthday is in less than twelve hours and I do not yet have a cake in the oven!

Thanks very much,

Av

8 ounces cream cheese
3 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons heavy cream

Whip together until smooth and creamy.

You could also use ricotta or cottage cheese (just whip them until they are smooth in texture).
